Department Zero

I haven't written a book review in quite some time, but Pyr Books sent me one of their latest and I just have to pass on the goodness. Not only did I really like this book, but Pat, who usually takes forever to read anything non-fiction, whipped through it and really liked it too!

Crime scene clean up man Harry Priest just wants to keep his head down, and make sure his ex-wife doesn't take away his visitation rights. That includes his daily phone calls to his daughter to say good night.

His hopes to do all this get blown away when he accidentally stumbles onto a secret multiverse of alternative realities, and the organization that keeps bad guys in check. When he's offered a job in their crime clean up crew - Department Zero - he can't say no. Things get even worse when all the madness, cultists, and creatures from H.P. Lovecraft turn out to be true, and he's the only one who can save all the realities from the Old Ones and total destruction.

And try to do it all in time to say goodnight to his daughter.

It's fast, it's funny, and Harry's adventure doesn't stop until the very last page. It'll seriously help you escape from the winter blahs. I recommend it.

All the best,
Your Geeky Godmother.
